Vacation Bible School is a big deal…a time for friends, fun, crafts, Bible stories, games and adventure. Back in the day, I remember being a part of a VBS opening assembly and I was selected to hold the Bible as we said the pledge to God’s Word. Holding that big Bible as everyone spoke together was humbling, an honor, and exciting all at once. I still remember that pledge and often think of the meaning behind those words:
I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's holy Word. I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path. I will hide its words in my heart that I might not sin against God.
Learning, memorizing and living God’s Word is an essential in the Christian life. I’m not as good or as disciplined at Scripture memory as I should and I’m always looking for ways to help myself and others to hide God’s Word in our hearts. Putting scripture is music, journaling, placing Scripture on notecards and referring to the cards often are great ways to lock in God’s truths in our minds. Another way to help with Scripture memory is to play a game allowing the brain to lock in the Word. A game allows the brain to think about the fun while learning a new concept or scripture. Today’s free download are some of my favorite scripture games. Enjoy! I’d love to hear your favorite scripture memory game or favorite scripture.
