Wylie Lou Fulton rightly muses, “Our doctrinal beliefs are expressed by the songs we sing and shaped by the songs we sing.” Hymns and spiritual songs give us an avenue to voice thanks, praise and worship to our Holy God. Importantly, singing songs that are not doctrinally correct implants misguided notions in our minds.
Carefully review texts before determining to spend time learning and memorizing them. If the words don’t line up with the scripture, they are not worth the time to teach or learn because what we sing and listen to shape our attitudes.
